JKS Timaru have created a club with a family atmosphere where differences are embraced.

JKS Shotokan Karate is one of the few karate styles in the world that has disability and wheelchair karate. Sensei Gerry teaches students with varying abilities which include wheelchair students, autism, hearing impaired & down syndrome. 

JKS Timaru’s aim is to teach a traditional style of Karate based on the principles of respect (rei) and hard work, while also adding a flavour of Sports Karate.

We aim to cater for everyone from the youngest beginners with our “Little Samurai” classes right through to senior Black belt levels. 

Our focus is on developing a positive friendly environment in which our students can grow & thrive.

We are an all-inclusive club, we welcome & encourage people of all ages & abilities to give karate a go.
